Protection of criminal victims
During the last 6 months, AWEN has been defending 19 victims of criminal offenses in the District Courts. All cases have experienced crimes of gender-based violence against them and their family members.
Activists and representatives of civil society protested on December 2, 2023, demanding justice and maximum punishment for the perpetrators of the gang rape of a 26-year-old woman in Vlora. The march, to which AWEN also joined, started from the prosecutor's office of the Vlora District and continued along the promenade in Skela, with the chants: "NO means NO", "Justice must triumph", "Stop gender-based violence".
This event reiterates the need and duty that Albanian society has to be aware, denounce and hold accountable the relevant state structures.
Everyone's collective and individual commitment and institutional response is essential in efforts to ensure that no other woman or girl experiences this type of violence.

AWEN was part of the protest organized on March 8 on International Women's Rights Day against social injustices and inequalities.
