Protection of criminal victims
During the last 6 months, AWEN has been defending 19 victims of criminal offenses in the District Courts. All cases have experienced crimes of gender-based violence against them and their family members.
AWEN, in collaboration with Agritra-Vizion Peshkopi, organized a training session for participants from ETN Dibër on the topic of "Establishing a concrete action plan for improving the response to domestic violence and gender-based violence." This training was developed within the Project "Strengthening the coordinated response of service providers from the police, health, education, and local government sectors to manage cases related to all forms of VAW, in accordance with CEDAW standards and the Istanbul Convention." The project is funded by the EU, supported by UN Women, and implemented by AWEN.
The training session focused on discussing the existing services and resources at the local level for addressing cases of domestic and gender-based violence. Participants were provided with an overview of the findings and results of the study on the functioning and effectiveness of the NRMs (National Referral Mechanisms) in the six municipalities covered by the project.
During the training, special attention was given to generating recommendations for enhancing services, considering the strengths, weaknesses, and specific needs of each ETN member institution in Dibër municipality. The conclusions and recommendations from the training will contribute to the establishment of a concrete action plan for improving the response to domestic violence. This action plan will be presented to the municipality of Dibër and will be incorporated into the municipality's social plan.
