Protection of criminal victims
During the last 6 months, AWEN has been defending 19 victims of criminal offenses in the District Courts. All cases have experienced crimes of gender-based violence against them and their family members.
In late February 2022, AWEN, in collaboration with the Psycho-Social Center "Vatra," organized a workshop in Fier on the topic of "Establishing a concrete action plan for improving the response to domestic violence and gender-based violence." The workshop included the participation of members from the Intersectorial Technical Team.
This training session was developed as part of the project "Strengthening the coordinated response of service providers from the police, health structures, education, and the local sector for the management of cases of all forms of violence against women, in accordance with the standards of CEDAW and the Istanbul Convention." The project is funded by the EU and supported by UN Women, with implementation by AWEN.
The purpose of this activity was to gain a better understanding of and address the gaps in support services for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence. Additionally, an action plan was finalized, which will be utilized to strengthen the response of institutions within our regional program aimed at ending violence against women and girls. This regional program is supported by the European Union.
